The State Forest

Outdoorsmen looking for terrain that is a little less maintained often leave the park grounds to venture into the adjacent Clarksburg State Forest. This wooded land is popular with hikers and game hunters, who relish the over 3,000 acres of hardwood forest. A small segment of the Appalachian Trail also winds through the property.

Park Activities

The most popular thing to do at the Clarksburg State Park is to go for a walk on one of the several well-maintained loop trails. The Pond Loop, which circles Mauserts Pond, is a great place to look for the many species of bird life that call the park home. The Shoreline Trail is a gentle walk that offers beautiful views. A landscaped pavilion area is perfect for picnics. If you just cannot bring yourself to leave, the park features 45 campsites as well as a comfort station with showers and toilets.
