Cochituate State Park

If you are looking for some of the best water fun in Massachusetts, put Cochituate State Park at the top of your list. Centered around three segments of Lake Cochituate, this popular park has a wide variety of activities.
On the lake
Lake Cochituate is a set of three ponds that stretch through the towns of Natick, Framingham and Wayland. Between the three of them, they encompass over 625 acres of usable water. Cochituate State Park provides access to Middle Pond, but boaters can gain access to the other two by passing under roadways through narrow channels.
Make a splash
Once you are on the water, there is lots to do. The main boat launch on Middle Pond is often quite crowded with people setting out for a day on the water. If you do not have a boat, a local company offers reasonably-priced rentals of kayaks and paddleboats. Outboard motors are allowed on the lake, but jet skis are not. A swimming beach is isolated away from the main boating area, where you can take a gentle walk into the lake.
Drying off
When you are ready to get out of the water, the main park area features a large picnic area. The park also has a number of trails that offer great views of the lakeshore. The restrooms and facilities are also kept scrupulously clean.
Locals have visited Cochituate State Park for years to enjoy the wide range of water fun on the lake. Hopefully you can experience this great park too, and then tell all your friends about it.
