Connecticut River Greenway State Park

Connecticut River Greenway State Park is a recent addition to the Massachusetts state park system. The park honors the Connecticut River and surrounding land, and it protects 12 miles of shoreline. Home to numerous river access points, the park is a great place for visitors to stay and play in the summer, offering abundant activities and attractions.
Outdoor activities
Outdoor adventurers and families alike can enjoy the activities provided at this state park. There are miles of calm waters for canoeing and a choice of several launch points. The river is also open to fishing during most seasons, and there are scattered picnic areas for those who want to enjoy a bite to eat in the warmth of the sun.
Access points
The main attraction of Connecticut River Greenway State Park, for canoers and boaters alike, is the opportunity to enjoy multiple river access points. Barton Cove is one of the more modern points. It is completely paved and open to motorboats, fishing boats and smaller water vehicles. Hatfield is another great choice for canoers because of its shallow waters.
French King Gorge
Located within the park, French King Gorge is considered an archeological gem and attracts thousands of visitors each year. It was formed by glacial water melts and offers one of the most unique views in the state of Massachusetts.
A visit to Connecticut Greenway River State Park is not one that is soon forgotten. Visitors who spend an afternoon or several days along the river or boating on its waters have a hard time staying away.
