Ellisville Harbor State Park

Ellisville Harbor State Park is located in the historic town of Plymouth, best known for the Pilgrim's landing. It is one of the most scenic spots on the South Shore Coastline, with a beach, marsh and forest. Natural beauty is the major attraction, with many walking and hiking trails that make taking in the scenery easy.

Nature and biodiversity

Ellisville Harbor State Park has a wide variety of natural areas. Located on the coastline, there is a pristine beachfront area, perfect for picnicking or walking. The land also has a farmstead, salt marsh, red pine forest and rolling meadows. Hiking trails pass through the whole park so you can take in nature in its many forms.

Seasonal activities

The park is home to several types of activities. There are fishing spots and walking and hiking trails suitable for most of the year. It is a popular site for bird watching during the warmer half of the year as well. In fall and winter, you might catch a glimpse of harbor seals just off the coast. In the winter months you even can cross-country ski right through the park.

Thousands of years of history

The site of Ellisville Harbor State Park is on land formerly inhabited by Native Americans. From roughly 2,500 to 5,000 years ago, a native population lived in this area who hunted, gathered and crafted tools. In more recent history, during the 18th century, the land contained the Harlow family homestead. This is part of the Department of Conservation and Recreation's Historic Curatorship Program.
