Great Brook Farm State Park

In northern Massachusetts, Great Brook Farm State Park stands heads and shoulders above the rest. The 1000 acre park is rich in agriculture and is part of the history of Great Brook. Cattle has existed for over 60 years on the property, and Native Americans had sacred sites throughout the vast acreage. English settlers had numerous mills throughout the Seventeenth century.
Park history and amenities
Great Brook Farm is a prime example of classic Massachusetts agricultural landscape. Thick woodlands and open fields combine with the historical buildings to give visitors a glimpse of a time forgotten. There are over 20 miles of trails for horseback riding, bicycling and hiking. Many of the sacred sites of the Native Americans are seen from these trails. A canoe launch at Meadow Pond provides for the fishing enthusiasts. The winter months host cross-country skiing and a ski rental facility were built created from one of the farm buildings.
Tour information
Visitors can take a tour of the first robotic milking system in Massachusetts. Located within a new barn that has been designed for this milking technology, the tour is approximately an hour and is great for families with children. Try to remember to wear closed toe, comfortable walking shoes. The dairy farm is a year-round operation.
Great Brook Farm State Park offers an array of activities for the family, the romantic couple and the individual. Fishing, hiking, canoeing and horseback riding abound around the state-of-the-art dairy farm.
