Holyoke Heritage State Park

Holyoke Heritage State Park is a wealth of fun, educational facilities for all ages and interests. From exciting activities for children such as a carousel and a museum just for them, to educational historic tours centered on the textile mills that populated the area, to the Volleyball Hall of Fame located on the grounds, there is something to do for everyone.

Lots of activities

If you have children, you are sure to spend the majority of your day in some combination of riding the antique, restored and fully-functional carousel and playing with the many interactive exhibits at the Holyoke Children's Museum located on park grounds. You should definitely make time to take an hour-long interpretive tour of the park grounds and visitor center, to learn more about the historic river-powered mills (first cotton, and later paper) that brought industry and growth to the area. The views of the powerful river that spurred entrepreneurs to build here are magnificent! Don't forget to visit the Volleyball Hall of Fame (the sport was created in Holyoke) while you're there either!

The park is open Tuesday through Sunday, year round. While the park and historic tours are free of admission, you may have to pay for the Children's Museum and Volleyball Hall of Fame. While many people might go for one of the many attractions, the park itself is also a beautifully landscaped area perfect for a family picnic with great views, so save some time for plenty of relaxing!
