Mt. Holyoke Range State Park

Hiking, skiing and horseback riding are just a few of the fun activities offered at Mt. Holyoke Range State Park in Massachusetts. This park is located in the Pioneer Valley region and encompasses much of the eastern portion of the Holyoke Range. The state Department of Conservation and Recreation oversees the management of the park and aims to keep the grounds as natural as possible, while encouraging visitors from all over the world to visit and enjoy the scenery.

The park's Friends Group offers hikes through the region year-round for those who do not want to venture out on their own. There are over 3,000 acres to explore within the park including 30 miles of marked trails.

Activities

The trails at Mount Holyoke Range State Park are marked for hiking, walking, and horseback riding. During the winter months, some are open for snowmobiling and snowshoeing. There are also designated areas where visitors may hunt, with a license of course. The rock faces in the area are mostly jagged and not well-suited to climbing.

Nature at its best

Though heavily wooded, the forest is not the only thing to see at this park. There are numerous thickets and wetlands to explore, as well as several ponds that are available for seasonal fishing.
