Natural Bridge State Park

Natural Bridge State Park is a tiny gem in the Berkshire Mountains of Western Massachusetts. Located just outside the artsy, recently revitalized town of North Adams, this little park is based on the only white marble natural bridge on the continent, a short rock overcropping spanning a 60 foot deep gorge carved out by a stream. A worthwhile side trip for visitors in the area, bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the scenery, but do nit expect to spend too much time here.
A historical site
Aside from the unique rock formation giving the park its namesake, there is a man-made dam and an abandoned marble quarry on site. In the summer months, the park is staffed with guides who can offer an interpretive tour of the historic items. An interesting slice of history, the kids can enjoy looking for 'historic' graffiti on the rocks around the natural bridge. The quarry was active beginning in the early 1800s.
Park facilities
After the short interpretive tour, enjoy a picnic and quick romp around the grounds, or let the kids do a little fishing. The park also has accessible restrooms.
The park is open in summer months, but in winter you can park at the main road and take a peaceful walk around the park. This is truly a neat site to visit while touring the northern Berkshires, and it is only a quick jaunt from downtown North Adams.
