Nickerson State Park

Located near Brewster in Massachusetts is Nickerson State Park, a scenic spot right on the shores of Cape Cod Bay. Dozens of kettle ponds completely dependent upon rainfall and groundwater dot the landscape, and forests that break the scrubby marsh-like character of Cape Cod fill Nickerson and make it a unique experience in the state.
Hiking and biking
Nickerson's 1,900-acre expanse is crisscrossed with hiking trails perfect for a day spent enjoying nature. Nickerson also includes within its borders a part of the Cape Cod Rail Trail, a 22-mile long path that extends through some of Cape Cod's most charming cities and locations. Biking and horseback-riding trails are also part of Nickerson's design, catering to patrons who prefer means other than their feet for getting around the park.
Camping
While Nickerson offers plenty of space and full amenities for RV parking, going out into the woods and camping is also a treat, made easier by the park's prepared campsites. One of the most recent innovations is a system of yurts that offer a camping experience if you do not want to bring your own tent.
Fishing and swimming
The park's many kettle ponds are stocked with trout each year to give visiting fishermen more entertainment, though some are on a strictly catch-and-release program. Most of the kettle ponds are only large enough to swim a small distance, but Cliff Pond is nearly a mile across and offers not only swimming, but canoeing and other non-motorized boating.
Finally, this park promises cross-country skiing in the winter and seasonal entertainment at the amphitheater. So what are you waiting for? Plan your trip to Massachusetts' Nickerson State Park today!
